Sunday morning came far too soon. After another sleepless, dream-filled night, I rolled out of bed and shuffled to the bathroom, desperate for a shower. The previous two days blurred together, and all I wanted was to check on Adaline again. But I had made a promise to take over her volunteer shifts at the animal shelter, and I intended to keep it.
