Alana reacted as well as Chase had to Melanie’s threat, but after showing her the video Bailey sent me, she shifted from anger to confusion. Join the club, Alana. But Bailey’s threat seemed to do the job. Melanie offered her glares and sneers in school but mostly steered clear of my friends and me, including Chase. Oddly enough, things went back to normal pretty fast, which only made Chase worry more. When the other shoe fell, it would be awful—or so he assumed.
