The Game Changer

I don’t know how I ended up at the hospital. I can only assume that my grandmother had driven me, but I was pacing inside the waiting room of the Trauma Center not long after they took Noah away in the ambulance. I chewed at my nails until all that remained were bloody stumps, and I couldn’t stop shaking no matter what I did. I had been there for an hour, waiting and pacing, round and round the same tiny room. Noah’s parents did the same, occasionally pausing to question a nurse or attempt to comfort me. Finally, Shay and Sam arrived.
