So Close, Yet So Far Away

Months passed as the correspondence between Elizabeth and me grew increasingly personal. I learned things about her I never know despite having known her all her life. The more we wrote, the more I fell. And the more I fell, the harder it was to hide it from her, but I did my best. I wanted to give her what her father had given her mother, time to grow into the amazing woman she wanted to be. Then, with any luck at all, she’d see me as the person she wanted to share her life with.
