In my father’s eyes, I’d become a “teenage girl” overnight. His daughter went to bed one night the quiet, shy girl he’d known for years and woke the next morning a person he deemed had “lost her ever-loving mind.” In all fairness, I did show up a bit late in the game, lulling him into a false sense of security thinking he’d passed through the rough teenage years with very little fanfare.
