When I woke the next morning, I was surprised to find myself looking forward to school. I was further surprised by the hot water that fell from the shower, and I even smiled when the lavender scent of the shampoo invaded my nostrils. Ah, the good life. The breakfast spread was to die for, and I skillfully hid extra pastries in my bag for future snacking. Once my belly was filled to capacity with the first real food I’d had in days, I headed toward my destination ready to complete the first phase of the project.
