Chapter Twenty

I PURPOSELY WOKE EARLIER THAN necessary. There was something I had to do, and it couldn’t wait until after the fight. I dressed and pulled on a heavy coat, then opened the creaky cabin door to find a fresh snowfall. The moonlight sparkled against the icy blanket and an eerie calm settled over me. It was beautiful, but I doubted I would ever look at snow the same way again.
