Chapter Thirteen

Charlie worked fast, and the next morning Georgette was out of jail while her step-brother and Nate were in it. According to Ally, who had come by to check on Francine and me, a judge agreed Georgette acted in self-defense and no charges were brought against her. I doubted it was really that easy, but with Charlie involved, you could never be sure. I felt for sure the woman had superpowers or more friends in high places than I cared to know. Either way, as long as Georgette was safe I didn’t care.
