The following Monday was possibly the most annoying day I’d ever experienced at school, and that’s including the days of old when I hated Knox. Okay, fine—when I thought I hated Knox. The second our feet hit the pavement in the school parking lot, the staring and whispering began. Everyone at school knew Knox, and I had some sort of falling out, after all, we weren’t hanging out anymore, but no one knew what it was that had driven the wedge between us. Seeing us together again was bound to stir up the rumor mill, making me the center of attention.
