Chapter Nine

Several weeks came and went in much the same way. I spent my time juggling a demanding schedule, trying to spread my time between my family, school, Adaline, and the shelter, but I made it work. Jay and I had found a new group of friends in Carter and his teammates. We had hung out a few times and ate lunch regularly at their table. Adaline was healing well, and the swelling in her brain had gone down. It was only a matter of time before she opened her eyes… I hoped.
