Declan couldn't take his eyes off the strange brown stain above his head. The ceiling of the campus security office was splotched with several stains, but the one right over him was bulging out, as if that section of the ceiling might crumble down on his head at any moment. It's probably filled with nasty mold and junk, Declan thought. I wonder if any of it is toxic. If it rains down on me, maybe I'll mutate and become a superhero. He smirked at the thought. He knew superheroes weren't real, but thinking of himself as a mutated town savior was better than the reality of his current circumstance.
